I had actually stopped writing for a few years because I felt like I didn’t have anything to write about. Better yet, I thought I had nothing that was worth reading. I still loved storytelling, so in college, I focused that love towards animation. However, it wasn’t the same as physically jotting down those explorative ideas and organizing the words into a miniature adventure in a literary sense. Months after graduation, I came across “blogging” and a course that taught how to get started. To be honest, I still felt like I didn’t have much to write about that was of much interest. Still, I truly missed writing, so I gave it a shot. Within a few months, I learned some very important lessons about writing, especially in terms of creating blog posts!
Scroll to the bottom of this post for some courses that’ll help you through your blogging journey! They definitely helped guide me through a lot of challenges.

Blog Post Tips #1: Focus on a topic that you’re genuinely passionate about.
Finding trends are helpful, but don’t focus on popular topics if they do not interest you. Remember having to write research papers in school on topics that we couldn’t care less about? That’s what it’ll be like if we try to write articles on trending topics that are of little interest. Blogging requires research at times, so that’s why we should focus on topics that we would actually want to do research about. If your interest just happens to start trending, then win-win!
When I first started blogging, I didn’t know what to write about. I just knew that I wanted to help people. My first blog was called “Successful Mistakes” where I shared how a stage fright blunder in front of my whole high school student body led to me trying to learn how to sing in front of an audience. I thought this was possibly the most boring topic I could have chosen, but I needed SOMETHING on my blog to start with. It wasn’t until I started seeing others share their stories and find comfort in my embarrassing blunder that I realized that sharing my past mistakes in a comedic style of writing was indeed helping others to not only embrace their own mistakes but to also learn from them!
Blog Post Tips #2: Jot down your ideas as they come, regardless of if they make any sense at the time!
Our brains are weird. They just are. We can remember the lyrics to a song that we haven’t heard in over a decade when it plays on the radio, but we’ll forget a third of the grocery list that we wrote out yesterday. I highly advise keeping a small notebook near you at all times, if possible. You can use your smartphone too if need be. However, I truly believe that ideas flow smoother when we can just haphazardly scribble the words down as soon as they come. These ideas can also disappear as fast as they came! Try to capture a quick summary as soon as you can, even if you have to record yourself rambling for 30 seconds!
Blog Post Tips #3: Remember to ask, “What’s in it for my audience?”
Let’s face it: a majority of the time when we approach that precious search bar, we’re looking for a solution to something.
I’m bored! Entertain me!
I’m feeling creative! Show me some ideas!
I’m confused and frustrated! Show me how to fix this issue!
You get the idea…
Very few people will care about a rant about having nothing to wear to an extravagant dinner party. Many people would be interested in a walkthrough on how to put together a fabulous outfit with $50 or less!
There’s nothing wrong with sharing your story! Heck, that was the foundation of “Kyrabe Stories”, but we have to remember that the stories that we share shouldn’t just be to place ourselves on a high pedestal. Our stories should be able to either help people solve their own issues…or at least entertain them enough to draw them back for more!
Blog Post Tips #4: Write as if you’re talking to a friend.
When it comes to creating blog posts, please, oh please, do not write all of your content like they are long professional academic theses unless it is strictly necessary. As much as I love to learn new things, I need information broken down Bill Nye style (I’m sincerely hoping I have readers who still know who the Science Guy is)! Studies have been shown that the most popular novels have been written at about a middle school reading level on average! What does that mean when we’re creating blog posts?
Prohibit the procedure of adopting extreme perplexity of literary phraseology into your composition.
What?
Don’t over-complicate your posts with fancy big words.
Blog Post Tips #5: Have a place and time to write.
I cannot list how many times “I didn’t have the time” to work on the blog. I scold myself whenever I use this excuse because a few of my posts have been drafted within an hour! On top of that, my established minimum is just three posts a month! When I think back on the time I used on social media or checking email or catching up on season 9 of My Little Pony: Friendship is magic, I realize that I did have time. I just didn’t segment any for the post that week.
Now, we all have different obligations: kids, multiple jobs, caregiver, constant traveling, relationships, school, medical, the list could go on forever. I cannot advise how anyone should set up their schedule without first knowing what all is on their agenda. What I can advise is establishing a “workplace” for you to write, even if it’s only for ten minutes.
This does not have to be a fancy home office. In fact, I drafted a part of this post from my bed on my laptop! Your workplace is just an area where you can get into the zone to write. If you’re like I am and get easily distracted at home and if you are able to leave home for about an hour or so, then I recommend places such as the local library, coffee shop, ice cream parlor, book store, etc. Choose what is comfortable and efficient for you.
Now let’s hear from you!

i have really loved the content because its gonna help to start on my blogging ambtion . i want to start a money making blog. am in much need of your help and guidance. thanks
The best thing to do is just start. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and just enrolled in courses here and there to guide me. No matter how many courses and tutorials I completed though, the most effective lessons were my hands-on trial and error moments. What works for me might not work for someone else, and vice-versa. Just start the blog and learn along the way. We now have “experience” because we accepted our blundering phase. ?

Great job on starting your path as a blogger, Daisy! To be honest, even after a year, I’m still asking a lot of questions. Just remember that you can always update your posts as you go. Just push that publish button and improve along the way.
