I’m not as shy as I used to be, but it can still be a little nerve-wracking to make new friends every time we move. My fiancé is more of the social butterfly and people warm up to him immediately. I, however, have to be eased into new relationships. I appreciated this post because it can be challenging to make new friends if one doesn’t know where to start. If you’re planning to move or have just moved to a new location…or are like me and finally want to socialize after three to six months of living somewhere new, FabFitFun was able to collect a lot of helpful tips!
Small actions can lead to big results. It won’t be an overnight change, but little by little we can do something to help each other out. I love that the suggestions in this post vary so widely. If you are searching for ideas to get involved in the community or to even just better yourself, I’m positive that one of these recommendations will be a great idea to explore.
I’ll be honest: I didn’t get into avidly reading until I was in my 20s. As a Millennial, I didn’t even begin reading the Harry Potter series until I was about 22 (I’m savoring all the disbelieving gasps over this). I really did not like reading when I was a teen (unless it was manga)! My middle and high school would occasionally assign something I liked like “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee or “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck. Otherwise, 99% of our reading assignments had me dreading English Literature with a classical passion!
I greatly appreciated collaborating on this post! As I began choosing books for myself instead of for assignments, I realized that there are a plethora of stories that I would have preferred reading! Many taught me a great deal about being myself and owning my creativity instead of settling for “the norm.”
My personal recommendations for this were “How to Win Friends & Influence People” by Dale Carnegie, “The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users” by Guy Kawasaki and Peg Fitzpatrick, and “The Creative Curve: How to Develop the Right Idea, at the Right Time” by Allen Gannett, but the list does well beyond this! Whether you are a teen or one at heart, this list is a goldmine of reads for you to enjoy!
We all need moments to laugh, and if you are a huge fan of books then this post is an epic match for you! My personal recommendation is Jen Sincero’s “You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life.” It’s both hilarious and inspirational, so if you have Audible, you will enjoy those daily transits so much more! I personally have not gotten to the other books on this list, so I’m happy to have plenty of recommendations for my wish-list to eventually add to our Book Recommendations page!
If you have ever had to deal with a horrible leader, part of me wants to say, “I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that.” The other part of me wants to grin wickedly and shout, “Congrats on that hellish learning opportunity!” The good lessons that we learn from others are many times not acknowledged as “good” lessons until years later if we ever take the time to reflect on those positive times. However, as SOON as we escape a horrible experience, we immediately log it into our brains not to EVER deal with something like that again! This post is filled with lessons to help identify the right characteristics to look for and which ones to avoid!
Words are powerful. The small, seemingly meaningless things that we tell ourselves every day will soon become our reality. That’s if it hasn’t become it already. If we are in a place that we’re not happy, we first must readjust our mentality before we can change our reality. This post is like a guide to help us identify the negative phrases we use every day without realizing it.

No problem, Amy! I do recommend customizing your preferences with HARO though. My inbox was initially filled with the most randomized topics that I would have never conceived possible. Options are nice, but too many can be so overwhelming!

HARO has been very helpful for matching writing prompts. I just highly recommend customizing your preferences at the beginning so that you're not bombarded with randomness in your inbox!
